My name is Kirsten Floyd, and I am from a little town in the Fraser Valley called Mission. It's a little country town in between Maple Ridge and Abbotsford. I graduated this year and was actually looking into going into ultrasound and respiratory therapy was my back up. I was accepted into NAIT (Alberta) and Cambrain (Ontario) for Respiratory Therapy, but I'm a family person and I couldn't do the distance! I have 2 brothers, mom, dad, and boyfriend waiting for me back home.

This takes me into a little discussion about long distance relationships. If it's meant to be, distance shouldn't matter... Distance is only a number it's whether the feelings can travel the distance. That's what I live by, and I'm stickin' to it! He's my cowboy!

I'm a very dedicated volleyball player and have been playing for 11 years. My dad was 6'7, he played for team Canada back in the old days, playing his whole life, and passed the passion to me! I'm just peaking 6' and my brother back home who's a year younger is already 6'4 and I don't doubt hes grown even more since I've seen him! Unfortunately, my father passed away  in January 2005 when I was 10 and my brother 8 due to a heart attack from excessive smoking. This actually encouraged me to go into Respiratory Therapy because of what happened to him and interested in Cardiology in the future.

I'm really looking forward to pursuing my dreams in the health profession, I was back and forth in careers trying to figure out what I wanted to do. To know that I'll be done by the time I'm 21/22 with a full career is a huge accomplishment and then it's the start to my own life! I find the RT program is full of great people and it's going to be great seeing you all for the next 3-4 years!

Good luck!
